B. Creator Examples

To get started, check out some of the creator examples below and see which describes you best.

1. Monica: I've got some ideas but never made anything or have no one to make anything with. I really want to make comedy and find others to work with.

Set up a Project Page and provide details about you (including your experience and comedy inspirations), your ideas and who you are interested in collaborating with. You can also try searching for Projects that you may be interested in getting involved with or that are looking for certain skills and you think you can help.

If you follow a Project you will be updated when they post something new or are looking for collaborators, and you can DM them directly on their page.

2. Edmund: I'm working on something at the moment but looking to find others to help get it finished.

Set up a Project Page and provide details about what you are making, and who you are interested in collaborating with (editors, performers, writers etc).

Your Project Page will be promoted and people with those skills can find your page and message you directly. Be as specific about what you are looking for as possible!

3. Damon: I've made completed content which is the best. I want to get on that Channel!

Set up a Project Page and get your family, friends and crew to sign up and follow your Project. If you can get 50 followers on there (or demonstrate to us by email that you have had lots of views/followers on other platforms like Instagram), then we may screen your content on the Channel.

4. I'm Ricardo Jervais and I'm brilliant. I've made a brilliant comedy web series so should be on your Channel right away. I'm brilliant me.

If you have a completed web series/content that has done well in festivals and/or you can point to a large following on twitter/Instagram etc then email us direct at tv@thecomedycrowd.com.

5.  Vivian: I'm a director / filmmaker / editor looking to cut my teeth in comedy by helping a writer make their script. Can I find people to work with?

100%. Just search the Projects looking for directors or filmmakers and message any that take your fancy. There are lots of other skills that are also searchable.

C. Common Questions

Do I keep ownership?

It's all yours and at all times!

Can you share one of my sketches on your YouTube/social media?

Yes, we do share in certain circumstances - like if you can either demonstrate an audience for it (e.g. something topical) or you are successful in one of our regular competitions. And oh yeah, priority will be given where you have also set up a Project Page.

I'm starting from scratch without a script, or have a script but no video. Can I still set up a Project Page?

Most definitely! When you are creating your Project Page, just add in the video url box 'I don’t yet have a video'. We will add a placeholder for now.

Can I have more than one Project Page?

You can have as many as you like! HOWEVER, we recommend that you have one Project Page per series/show/film idea. If you are mainly creating sketches, just use one Project Page as your home for all your sketches – and think of a banner for your sketches (exhibit A: Monty Python, In Living Colour, Fast Show etc).

Are there any other ways to get on the Channel besides a Project Page?

In certain circumstances, like (A) if you have content that is completed and recently released, or is yet to release and you have a large following on other platforms like Insta, Facebook etc OR (B) you enter your content in competition and it places high in judging - then your content may go straight up on the Channel.

What should I post on my project page?

Your page is your space to be creative and tell your fans all about your style of comedy. So post teaser content, updates on the project, behind the scenes footage, clips, and early episodes of your comedy.

HINT - Make your headline video 2 minutes or less. Keep it short and the best reflection of your comedy. Don't make people switch off before the end.

If you would like to see your project on the full Comedy Crowd TV Channel, we wouldn’t recommend posting all your content right away… leave them wanting more!

Fans are notified when creators post an update on their page, so be sure to keep posting regularly. That could be updates on your project or funny things that show off your humour.

And don't forget people love visual content. So videos and images are great in your updates.

Can I raise funding on my project page?

Comedy Crowd TV allows fans to help bring your comedy to life by making donations to the creative team.

As a project creator, if you want to raise funds to help with production, scripting, editing, animation or anything else, this is what you need to do:

1. When you create or edit your project, set a funding goal for the amount you need to raise. Be sure to say what you are raising funds for in your comedy project description.

2. Once your project is approved, go into your dashboard and click on "Payment Settings"

3. There you need to set up a PayPal account to receive donation payments. Fans can donate using card or PayPal, but as a creator you need to have a PayPal account set up to receive your donations

4. Creators receive 100% of donations straight away, regardless of whether the funding target has been reached

And that's it! A simple way to help fund exciting new comedy projects.

If your Q is not answered here, drop us an email at tv@thecomedycrowd.com and we'll do our best to help.

Happy comedying folks!
