British Rationals is a short-form, heightened realism comedy web series ranging from three to five minutes in length that satirises both the news and public opinion through the medium of fake vox pops conducted on the street.
Initially created for an internet audience as a response to the feeling that traditional satire was finding it difficult to keep pace with the constantly changing news landscape, British Rationals initially started life as a daily show before subsequently moving to a weekly format. As well as its satirical merits and distinctive style, British Rationals’ strong characterisation entreats viewers to develop personal relationships with the performers in the same vein as, for example, GoggleBox.
However, there is also a great deal of potential to develop British Rationals into a longer format using existing characters and actors, ranging from its own sketch show to a fly-on-the wall mockumentary-type piece as well as parody any format that involves audience interaction eg Jeremy Kyle, Question Time etc.
In its current form, British Rationals, could land as a segment within a larger show eg the Last Leg, Mash Report, Matt Forde’s Unspun or slot seamlessly into a sketch show.

We're always on the lookout for new writers and performers to join the team. We collaboratively create the character with the performer and have an egalitarian writing submissions process to be able to take in line and opinion pieces from any interested party, who will always receive a credit in the writing process. If we're funded, we'll be paying our writers and performers.
