This film is a satirical take on the ramblings of an anthropologist obsessed with finding 'primitive folk'. His only hope is an island of garden gnomes in Salford.
This film was made as promotion for the release of the song 'Nesomaniac', with an early edit previewed at a calamity cabaret style event that we hosted at The Talleyrand (Manchester, UK). It features an outtake from the song Nesomaniac's studio sessions; field recordings; and some other experimental foley sounds, in ode to dodgy dubbed films.
The wider work of this project (Academic People Watchers) includes releasing songs about anthropology, with the core aim to make academic research more accessible to a wider public. The musical side of the project combines a wide selection of instruments ranging from persian santur to saxophone, and even thunderdrum.
I am hoping to develop this project further by exploring more ambitious film; theatre; and radio drama, alongside the usual musical endeavours.
