This is my Chort! Entry 2019

The character Tommy is based on family members who grew up working in Liverpool, the sketch, is based on my experiences of my 25 years working in Adult Social Care and specifically an older couple I worked with around 20 years ago (sadly long passed away) In ‘discussion with their family, it was decided that the couple leave their family home and move into a Residential home, and it quickly became apparent to the Characters family (when they were emptying the house), and to the Management and staff at the Residential home, that the couple lived a very ‘fulfilled and passionate lifestyle at home’ and had no intention of stopping in the Residential Home. So the couple were now in a position of previously living a very private life, to having their privacy and dignity taken away from them by their own family and being surrounded by people blinkered by their own morals and values. The couple decided to meet fire with fire and openly talked about their sex life, and appetites and preferences without filters, and made it clear, nothing was going to change, the couple were moved to an area more private within the Residential home so they could live, how they wanted to. There were no further issues until, ‘sex in a pantomime horse costume’ gate.
The plan is to be respectful, challenge stereotypes, for example, if there was a scene of a couple having sex dressed in a pantomime horse. There would be an assumption that it would be younger people.
So the sketch I wrote, is a very reigned back sketch, with a different dynamic, Tommy and Josie are not trying to make a stand, or to offend anyone. Just trying to answer THE question.

In later sketches Tommy and Josie will discuss the similarity between themselves and younger people, including University Students.

How Tommy & Josie perceive the changing word including social media. And where they find themselves in the community. Meeting their friends and family.

When and how they met and how would they have met today. Naked Dating, Dating the dark, plenty of fish, tinder etc

Pat Kirk (me), creating all the characters playing Tommy, writing, editing and producing all sketches, on an iPhone learning each task as I go. It has been great fun, stressful frustrating, testing and satisfying.

Iplan to collaborate with a number of stand up’s to develop characters to support Tommy’s community. I never envisaged playing a Character and am happy to work behind a camera or stick to writing.

I am a complete novice, but very keen. Everything in this clip has been filmed and edited on my phone. I would welcome advice and guidance from anyone with an interest in the Project.
