Blinkers

What's it all about

Bloody hell, humans can be so stupid and annoying! But that's a good thing when it comes to sending them up via comedy. "Blinkers" reminds us how humans frequently choose to wear blinders, when it suits them. They can't see the ocean because of all those water drops in the way.

So far, 12 episodes of this project have been completed. Six of them (season one) concentrate on environmental issues. The other six (season two) are set in a motor transport department. Not only are the officers workers abysmal at customer service, but the office is undergoing seemingly never-ending renovation work by inept tradespeople.

Poor Bernard is the one constant. At home he's henpecked by his obnoxious sister and in the office he's usually ignored as a customer. His catchphrase at the end of each episode is, "The audacity of some people!"

If this show picks up fans we'd love to make more episodes and have many ideas for this. It would be fun to see Bernard visit a psychic or have a personal trainer in a gym or go pole (Polish) dancing.

This episode introduction, inspired by sitcoms of old, was animated by Gant Dawson (who is predominantly an editor). Its music was composed by Maike Watson. (https://www.maikewatson.com/)

It was a lot of fun observing actor Salvatore Merenda transform into a Neanderthal. This character is normally very polite and civil, but it doesn't take much for his more primitve urges to surface, as evidenced in the "Neanderthal Clone" episode. We'd love to see him return in Series 3.

The creator/writer/producer/occasional director is Karen Buckton. She also plays the character called Recalcitrance.

The first assistant director is Anthony Miller. He also plays the Handsome Workman character and cracks lots of jokes on set.

Bernard is played by Michael Thompson. He doesn't do much else apart from his acting, except he sometimes eats or sleeps between takes.

There's a wide cast of other characters because actors often ask if they can be in the show and so Karen writes a role for them if she thinks they can be funny. There's a wide array of crew as well because we take whomever we can get for free on shooting days. We would LOVE to be able to pay people for their time and effort. That is a definite aim.
